Landscape study painted this morning on canvas board

I'm happy with this little study I produced this morning. It went pretty much the way I planned. And managed to avoid overworking it or making too many mindless marks! Once again using a limited palette of red, yellow, blue and brown.

I haven't painted a landscape for a few days. Basically because I was doing my other love, portrait painting. One of the portraits ended up looking fair for the first pass. The second was a bit of a struggle for various reasons. But the failures are all learning. Don't give because it didn't turn out the way you envisioned. Even the mighty John Singer Sargent was known to make multiple attempts sometimes before he found the look he wanted. Just try to figure out what went wrong and take is a positive.
